The Founder

The Christ University Trust was born out of the educational and social vision of Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the founder of CMI congregation. Blessed Chavara was a great educationalist and a social reformer of the 19th century. He could foresee the changes in the environment and make strategic moves to build a better society based on faith in God and concern for fellow human beings. Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), the first indigenous religious congregation of India with a membership of around 3000, renders its service to humanity in educational, social, health care and other activities aiming at the integral development of the society.

Christ University Trust

Christ University Trust was started in 2007 by the priests of the congregation of Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI). The aim of the Trust is to promote humane social transformation through higher education, research and dissemination of knowledge in human sciences, sciences, technology, art, and emerging areas.
